Meet Hana from our Ethiopia Leather Factory

Hana is a design assistant at Kabana, one of our leather partners in Ethiopia. Kabana is located in Addis Ababa, the largest city and capital city of Ethiopia. Hana is an interior designer by trade, she has been with the company since March 2017 and loves applying her passion for fashion and design in her work.

What are you most proud of in your work?
Fashion is my world. I design bags and clothes. It makes me so proud when I see people wearing my designs and when my bags are sold all over the world.

How does your work empower you?
At Kabana, we work as a team. I like working with all the incredible women because I learn more from them. I am also able to share my skills with others, and that empowers me.

What have you learned about your value as a woman from working at Kabana?
When I see my ideas sold all over the world, it reaffirms how I think about my worth as a designer. In fact, Semhal (Kabana’s owner) has encouraged me to open up my own design consultancy office in Addis Ababa.

What advice would you give to other women in the workplace?
I want all women to understand their worth. We need to value ourselves. We should not give up on challenges, rather, we need to be positive, strive for a better future, and we can all live our dream.
